NEW: Professional Development for European Archivists

To encourage cooperation between professionals working with Jewish archives the Rothschild Foundation Europe is launching a professional development scheme in 2010.

Bursaries of up to £1,000 will be provided to finance short study visits between practitioners working in different European archives with Jewish collections, whereby the host institution shares knowledge and information with the visiting party. Exchanges between archives in Western and Central/Eastern Europe are particularly welcomed.

The aim of the scheme is to foster dialogue and the on-going sharing of best practice, with the aim of developing a European network of archivists working with Jewish collections. It is hoped that this network will be able to provide training opportunities, educational resources and professional dialogue for those working for the preservation of Jewish archives.

How to Apply

Institutions interested in participating in the scheme are invited to send a joint application letter, no longer than 2-3 A4 pages, to the Foundation noting the following:

It is important that an agreement to organise the visit is reached by both parties prior to applying. After the visit, participants will be expected to write a brief report to the Foundation.

Application letters should be sent to grants@rothschildfoundation.eu by March 23 2010 for visits that will take place before the end of 2010. Successful applicants will be notified by April 23 2010

Further information about the scheme can be obtained from Ms Robin Nobel r.nobel@rothschildfoundation.eu
